The vocational colleges in Leverkusen have a long tradition. In 2008 they celebrate their centenary. The   merging of the educational and the catering department with the technical department led to today’s Geschwister Scholl Vocational College.

The name was chosen deliberately to commemorate Hans and Sophie Scholl who were members of the resistance movement “White Rose” that fought Hitler’s fascist regime.

In 2012 about 1800 pupils attend Geschwister Scholl Vocational College. The staff consists of 83 teachers. The premises have been carefully renovated and include classrooms equipped with the latest technology.

Qualifications can be gained within occupational training in combination with on-the-job training or within courses that take place at college without on-the-job training. It is possible to achieve both occupational qualifications and various qualifications comparable to O-levels and A-levels.
